Bible Buying Guide

Have you ever attempted to buy a bible, either for yourself or as a gift, and got overwhelmed by the choices and versions and got just plain stuck on the question, which one do I buy? Which one is best for beginners? Which one is best for teens? Which one is easiest to understand? This blog will attempt to answer these questions, and help you decide for yourself wich bible is the best fit. You need to understand, all bibles DO NOT say the same thing. Aside from religious doctorines, the main difference in bible version or tranlations was the method that was used during translation, and the text in which that was based upon. Some versions leave out complete verses. Most differ in wording because the wording was altered when translating from hebrew or aramaic into english. This all causes much debate among scholars as to wich is closest to the original texts, therfore the most truthful.  Let start with the infamous King James version. If you have ever opened up to graze over a few pages of this particular bible you will noitce right away the unigue phrasing. A lot of old english thee and thou going on. This is a pretty difficult read for me. Beautiful and poetic, and the orginal manuscript translated into the english language, but not an easy, flowing read. A lot of concordance and dictionary refferance was needed for me to comprehend it. Not my personal favorite, but the book of choice to most protestant pastors and ministers. The New King James version changed the phrasing and lost the ye and thee's and more closley resembles the New International Version or NIV.
